Finding the divine…

While the craziness of my semester is finally winding down to a close I
find that I have been thinking about what one thing I have most taken
away from the (soon to be) 16 weeks. The Hindu form of greeting, Namaste,
is a simple gesture of placing the hands together in front of your
chest (heart) and bowing the head slightly. Yet what it implicitly
implies is a recognition and greeting to the divine in the person you
are greeting, in other words, “it recognizes the equality of all, and
pays honor to the sacredness of all.”  People can argue over
religion, right and wrong, up and down all they want, but the world
would be a better place if we were to consider the sacredness in each
person that we meet. That so many cells, this much of blood, that much
of water–all came together to the living, breathing person standing in
front of us is a piece of divinity in and of itself. We may not agree
where we came from, we may not agree where we will end up–but for a
few moments we should try to remember what an amazing thing life is and
greet it accordingly.
